For some, an important concept here is simply avoiding distraction during study times, whether these distractions involve your kids, other life responsibilities or even certain leisure areas.

Lay Out Specific Study Times
A quality study habit that many people find success with is scheduling specific times to study each day. This way, you’re less likely to be swayed by distractions as you’ll know that it’s time to focus on your material. This can be especially effective if you dedicate different days of the week to different subjects, such as Mondays for business law and ethics, Tuesdays for trade math, etc.
Handle Other Responsibilities
If you have other major life responsibilities, such as children, pets or an ill family member, it’s important to do whatever you can to minimize distractions during your study times. This may mean hiring a babysitter for your kids or asking a friend or neighbor to check in on your pets while you’re focusing on studying.
In other cases, though, these themes will just require proper time management. You may need to study during your lunch break at work or get up an hour earlier each morning to ensure you have the time you need.
Focused, Isolated Study Space
If you study in a location where distractions are common and easy to come by, it’ll be that much harder to focus on the task at hand. Try to find a space in your home where you can study uninterrupted, whether this is a dedicated office or just a spot at the kitchen table.
This also means being aware of common technological distractions, such as social media, email notifications and even text messages. If possible, silence your phone or put it in another room while you’re studying so you won’t be as tempted to check it.
Stay Realistic With Study Goals
Finally, it’s important to set achievable goals for each study session. Trying to cram too much information into a short amount of time can be overwhelming and actually lead to poorer retention rates. Start with smaller goals, such as reading one chapter of your textbook or working on one specific problem set.
As you get closer to the exam date, you can gradually increase the difficulty of your goals while still ensuring that you have enough time to review all the material.
